BRITISH COLUMBIA ARTISTS

VANCOUVER ART GALLERY

FOURTEENTH ANNUAL
BRITISH COLUMBIA ARTISTS' EXHIBITION

SEPTEMBER 22nd TO OCTOBER 21st, 1945

A NON-JURY SHOW

             FOREWORD

This is the second non-jury exhibition to be held in the Vancouver Art Gallery.

A non-jury exhibition is one in which every person has the right to exhibit his or her work. It is a free-for-all.

A jury exhibition on the other hand is one in which pictures entered for exhibition are selected on their merits by a special committee appointed for that purpose.

The present Exhibition Committee favours holding a non-jury show every second or third year, with a jury exhibition in the years in between.

             LAWREN HARRIS,
Chairman, Exhibition Committee.

September 22nd, 1945.

TO THE PURCHASER OF THIS CATALOGUE:

The figures placed against various works of art listed in this catalogue indicate that these are selling prices. We suggest that one of the best ways in which to encourage a creative artist is to buy what he has created. We commend this thought to your kind consideration when you view the exhibits.
