Margaret Law Donald was born in Battleford, Saskatchewan. She was living in North Vancouver when she married Claude Lyon Donald in Vancouver on April 28 1943. Her occupation was noted as "artist-commercial at home" and he was employed as "projectionist for the National Film Board of Canada."

She exhibited work at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the 1945 and 1947 annual B.C. Artists exhibitions. The artist was living in Vancouver.
