Atelier Sketch Club

Dorothy Stevens Cope was born in Vancouver in 1915, and took night school classes at the Vancouver School of Art around 1933.

Stevens was a member of the Atelier Sketch Club, a group formed by art students taking Evening Classes at the Vancouver School of Art. The group put together an exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1940.

She exhibited work in B.C. Artists' annual exhibitions from 1942 to 1950 and in 1958, held at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and in the 1944 British Columbia At Work exhibition.

She married artist Clive Cope on March 26, 1943 in Vancouver. His occupation was noted as "commercial artist - advertising" and hers was "industrial artist - woodenware."

She had a solo exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1949.

She exhibited as Dorothy Stevens-Cope in the 1945 B.C. Artists exhibition, and as Dorothy Stevens Cope (no hyphen) in the 1946 and 1948 Atelier Club Annual Exhibitions.

She exhibited in the Seattle Art Museum's annual Northwest Artists exhibition from 1961 to 1964.
