The Jury were very favourably impressed by this year's exhibition. We feel it shows the real vitality of artists searching for authentic expressions of their own experience. Certainly they have found that expression within a great variety of forms from strict naturalism to the extreme of abstraction. There are some interesting new-comers to British Columbia exhibitions and other frequent exhibitors who manifest a healthy development. It is regrettable that a considerable number of fine works could not be hung, owing to lack of space. The jury experienced considerable difficulty in judging those works whose inclusion was in doubt. It is hoped that this situation will be remedied next year with the completion of the new building.
