Helen Mary Douglas was born in New Westminster in 1903. She studied at the Provincial Normal School in Vancouver in 1921-22, and was on the Staff of the school's Annual. The student list for Class Two noted the following:
Miss Helen Douglas ... New Westminster
         "All things understood
She is in short most perfect fair and good."

She attended the Vancouver School of Art in 1937-38, and received a merit certificate.

She exhibited artwork in the 1946 and 1950 B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The artist lived in New Westminster.

She began exhibiting work with the B.C. Society of Artists in 1952, and continued to 1967.

B.C. Vital Statistics on-line provides two dates for the birth of a Helen Mary Douglas in New Westminster in 1903 - August 3rd and 30th. There is a birth certificate dated August 30 attached to the latter reference, which is presumably correct.

She died at UBC Hospital at the age of 89. Her occupation was noted as "Teacher - Education" and she was single. She was living on Canada Way in Burnaby at the time.
