groups

Clive A. Cope was born in Vancouver. Interestingly, his last name at birth was Cox, but he changed it to Cope at some time. Both of his parents were from England. His death certificate has a hand-written note: "Number 13 - questioned funeral director and he is unable to confirm why father and son's surname differ." Number 13 is the line item for father's name.

He exhibited artwork in the 1941 B.C. Artists exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery. He was living in Vancouver.

He married artist Dorothy Walpole Stevens on March 26, 1943 in Vancouver. His occupation was noted as "commercial artist - advertising" and hers was "industrial artist - woodenware."

He had a solo exhibition of 17 watercolours at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1949.

Cope was living on Denman Island when he died at home in 1984. He was survived by his wife Lillian Satterley.
