Hilda Vincent Foster was born in West Bridgford, Nottingham, England. She moved to Edmonton AB in 1927, and was President of the Edmonton Art Club from 1930-34. She exhibited artwork in the B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery from 1945 to 1948. She was living at Cobble Hill on Vancouver Island in 1946.

Foster exhibited 4 works at the Royal Canadian Academy from 1936 to 1945, while living in Edmonton.

She died in Saanich, B.C. on January 13, 1970 at the age of 73.
