Ernest Johnston

Ernest Johnston was born in Sheffield, England, and came to Canada c1918. He married Gladys Maria Foster at Silver Creek on October 8 1926. His occupation was noted as rancher, residing at Bridge Lake.

He exhibited work at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the 1945 B.C. Artists annual exhibition. The artist was living in Canoe (Salmon Arm) at the time. He also submitted work to the 15th Annual BC Artists exhibition in 1946, but it was not juried in to the exhibition.

Johnston lived in Salmon Arm from about 1938 until his death in 1968. He was noted as having retired as a locomotive fireman in 1946. He was survived by his wife Gladys.
