Reginald Stuart Scott

February 9 1904 - April 11 1997

R. Stuart Scott was born in Nanaimo B.C. in 1904, and was apparently a pupil of the Vancouver School of Art, although he did not graduate from the school. He also attended the Federal School in Chicago. He won a Bronze medal at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1935.

He exhibited three watercolours in the 1928 Eighth Annual Salon of the Provincial Exhibition in New Westminster. The exhibition catalogue noted that he was a resident of Vancouver, B.C.

Scott exhibited at the Vancouver Exhibition in 1930, representing the the Vancouver Sketch Club.

He exhibited his work in the annual B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery from the inaugural exhibition in 1932 until 1935. He won the Association Bronze medal in 1935 for his watercolour "Coal Harbor."

He had a group exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1936 with George Foster and E.C. Lockey.

He exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy in 1936 and 1937, showing one watercolour in each exhibition. He also exhibited with the Canadian Society of Water Colour Artists in Toronto. He was employed as a commercial artist by Angell Engraving Company, Vancouver BC. in 1941.

Scott was pre-deceased by his wife Agnes Maude Stewart when he died in 1997 at the age of 83. His occupation was noted as "commercial artist" and "engraver."
