Vancouver Pictures Come to Chilliwack

Vancouver Art Gallery press release October 1934

An exhibition of some 90 pictures selected from amongst those exhibited at the Third Annual B.C. Artists Exhibition in the Vancouver Art Gallery will be shown in the auditorium of the High School from Thursday next, October 18th until Sunday October 21st, inclusive.
The Womens Canadian Club and the Board of Trade, assisted by groups from the I.O.D.E. will sponsor a public reception to mark the opening of the Exhibition on Thursday night at 8:30.
Representatives of the Vancouver Art Gallery will be present, headed by Mr. Willie Dalton, Chairman of the Exhibition Committee of the Gallery who will give a short address.
Included in the Exhibition is "My-E-En" by Vera O. Weatherbie of Vancouver. This picture was recently awarded the Beatrice Stone Silver Medal for the best picture of the B.C. Artists' Show. Among other pictures coming to Chilliwack are works by C.H. Scott, F.H. Varley, A.R.C.A., J.W.G. Macdonald and other noted artists. Chilliwack peope will gain from this collection an idea of the extent and variety of artistic work now being done in this Province. All the pictures have been painted within this year and the show should prove of considerable interest. It is hoped to arrange similar exhibitions in the future, with the object of making the work the Vancouver Art Gallery is doing more widely known.
