INTRODUCTION
This is was a work created for an invitational exhibition at the
Vancouver East Cultural Centre titled "Ode to Jack" (Shadbolt). The
them of the show was Shadbolt's butterfly series. I was just beginning
to play with cut gemstones at the time, and evolved a process of
photographing them, then drawing and painting on the photographic prints.
A few other ideas coalesced along the way, resulting in this work.
Materials are liquid acrylic ink, self hardening clay, glass, hand drawn and
painted photographic prints, pen and ink, six cubic zirconias,
brass pins, dried rose and tulip petals, matteboard, and foamcore
