Vera M. Sharpe was born in Vernon in 1905. She was a student at the University of British Columbia, where she took the teacher training course. She later studied at the Ontario College of Arts in Toronto, where she won scholarships in 1929 and 1930. She also studied under J. Topham Brown in Vernon and Mr. Rigby in Vancouver.

Who's Who in Northwest Art noted that she was an artist in pencil drawing, painting (watercolour, miniatures, pastel), clay modeling, and illuminated addresses.

She exhibited her work in the B.C. Artists annuals at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1936, 1937, 1939, 1941, 1946, and 1947. Exhibition entries noted that she was living in Vernon. She also exhibited her work at David Spencer Ltd.'s department store in Vancouver in 1935.

Sharpe died in Vernon in 1994 at the age of 88. She was widowed, her occupation was noted as "Business Woman - Beverage Manufacturing."
