George Elmer Jarvis

George E. Jarvis was born in Nanaimo. He married Emma Hanson, a stenographer, on October 19, 1922 in Vancouver. The marriage certificate listed him as "Commercial Artist."

He was a partner in the Jarvis & Walker photographic business, and was listed as a commercial artist in the City Directories.

He exhibited two bromide and two chloro-bromide photographs at the Canadian National Exhibition in 1931 and 1939.

He exhibited work in the 1939 exhibition by the Vancouver Photographic Society.

He also showed work in the 1940 1st Annual Vancouver International Salon of Pictorial Photography exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery. He was on the Salon Committee for that exhibition. The artist was living in Vancouver.

Jarvis died in West Vancouver in 1975 at the age of 75. He was still married to Emma, his occupation noted as "Commercial artist - Art Work."
