George Brangwyn was born in North Vancouver. He was married to Eleanora Weber.

A Faulkner Smith Academy of Art Prospectus c1936 has a list of "students successfully placed as artists" that notes Upham was employed at Pilkington Brothers. Ten years later he was back at the same school.

He exhibited in the 1945 British Columbia At Work exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Upham died in North Vancouver in 1998 at the age of 71. His occupation was noted as "Draughtsman - Construction."
