She entered artwork into the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede in 1946, winning three prizes, and again in 1947, winning 1st prize in Classes 1 and 8, and 2nd in Class 2. Another prize winner in both exhibitions was Okanagan artist Evelyn Cools, who won a total of 14 prizes in the two exhibitions.
Although primarily an Alberta artist, Shelton also traveled in British Columbia and created a number of important artworks of the province. These include the print Fraser Canyon seen below, Homestead at Revelstoke, and Shooks Barn, Hatzic. Shelton died in Calgary AB in 1984.
