Dorothy Ruth Mouat was born in British Columbia in 1920. She exhibited in the 1945 British Columbia At Work exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

She exhibited in the Seattle Art Museum's annual Northwest Artists exhibition in 1958.

She died in Vancouver of cancer at the age of 40. She had been living at Lynn Valley in North Vancouver.
