Greater Vancouver Art Galleries

There has been an Italian gallery/museum in Vancouver for many years. Originally, I believe that it was located inside the Italian Consulate. Artists including Ione McIntyre and Sveva Caetani were exhibited as early as 1980.

From 1991 to about 1994 the gallery was located at 1200 Burrard Street. It relocated to 3075 Slocan Street when the Italian Cultural Centre opened. Il Museo has maintained an extensive series of exhbitions there to the current day. In 2021-22 they put on a series of exhibitions relating to the 150th anniversary of the birth of sculptor Charles Marega.

The following list of exhibitions, both group and solo, has been compiled from numerous exhibition catalogues and club cards, as well as references to solo exhibitions found in artist CV's and exhibition records. However, the list is only indicative, it cannot be considered a complete record of the exhibitions.

A special thank-you is due to Angela Clarke, PhD., Museum Curator, for the gift of numerous catalogues and club cards from exhibitions at Il Museo.
