Miss Emma B. Hayden was one of the earliest artists to exhibit in Vancouver, and in 1889 was a founding member of the first important art organization in Vancouver, the Vancouver Art Association. She held the position of Treasurer of the Association in 1890.

She also exhibited a number of paintings in the First Annual Exhibition of the Vancouver Art Association in 1890.

BC Vital Statistics on-line lists the death of Emma Belle Hayden in Vernon on January 4 1937 at the age of 80. This may be the artist. There is no certificate posted so additional information is not available.
