Florence Barr briefly attended the Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts, completing first year classes in 1930.

She was employed by Edward Mahon at the West Lake Ski Lodge at Hollyburn Ridge in the 1930s, working and also providing artwork for marketing materials for the lodge.
