Margaret Awmack

Margaret Awmack was born in Cranbrook. Her parents were from England. She married George Lake, an engineer, in Burnaby on July 3, 1939. The marriage certificate noted her occupation as Artist.

She was an early student at the Vancouver School of Art. In 1937 she won the Mr. W.H. Malkin Scholarship of $50.00, open to students of second year, and in 1938 won the Women's Canadian Club Scholarship of $25.00 open to third year students.

As Margaret Lake she exhibited artwork in the 1963 BC Artists exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Lake died in Burnaby in 1999 at the age of 86, occupation noted as homemaker.
