GALLERY DOCENT

Miss Jessie Faunt, the Gallery Docent, has presented a Report to the Junior League of Vancouver outlining her activities during the first two months of her engagement. Among items of interest included in the Report is the fact that Miss Faunt has made contact with 708 visitors to the Gallery, which figure includes 75 individuals whose questions were answered and explanations given, and 633 visitors included in the specially arranged tours of the Gallery. The Sunday afternoon tours have, in particular, met with much success.
In the course of her first two months' work Miss Faunt has had many valuable contacts with visitors and she was particularly successful in interesting people in the Exhibition by George Goutiere. She has also been able to assist visitors with various personal problems by giving information as to means by which lessons in art could be secured, particulars relating to craft organizations and text book publishers. She has also received a number of letters from outside Vancouver asking for information about the activities of the Gallery and other details. So far, four school groups have taken advantage of MIss Faunt's services.
In addition to her afternoon duties the Docent is now engaged in preparing illustrated material for use in talks which she hopes to arrange in the Gallery.
