Artist Statement by Robert P. Taylor

Information provided courtesy of the Vancouver Art Gallery Library.

Born in Victoria B.C. in 1924. Took an early interest in painting and in wildlife. Largely self taught but after discharged from R.C.A.F. as a pilot, studied for a short time at the Vancouver School of Art.

Exhibited at Victoria, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. Water-colours appear in the staterooms of the CPR's Coast Steamship "Kathleen."

These paintings of Western Water-fowl and Game-birds, rather than being ornithological studies, cater more to the sportman and nature lover who has seen and appreciated the beauty of wild birds in flight against an ever changing backdrop of sea, sky, and marsh.
