William Irving Sinclair

Irving Sinclair was born on Mayne Island. He is said to have moved to San Francisco in 1917, but he was also listed as an artist in the Henderson's Vancouver City Directory in 1919 with a residence at #10 - 522 West Pender Street. In 1920 he was again listed as a Vancouver artist, and had moved into #9 - 522 W. Pender.

In San Francisco he worked as a billboard artist, then worked as art director for Fox West Coast Theatres. He later studied in New York. He spent summer vacations "in his Galiano Island studio."

He was noted as a portrait artist, and he had a solo exhibition of 20 paintings at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1946. He died in San Francisco in 1969.
