Harry Victor Law was born in Peoria, Illinois in 1866, although both of his parents were born in England. He moved to Revelstoke c1940, according to his death certificate, where he lived at Big Eddy, a rural area.

He had solo exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1940 and 1945.

He retired as an "artist" in December 1949 after "50 years." He was married to Ethel C. McDonald, and had retained his American citizenship.
