GIRAFFE
Original Limited Edition Relief Print by Gary Sim issued August 2022
The image of this giraffe is from a Kodachrome colour slide that was taken
in 1959 at the Seattle Zoo, Washington. It is one of 600 slides in my family
collection of photographs. Our family was visiting there on vacation, and
at that time I was young enough (and short enough)
to be able to walk underneath the giraffe without having to duck.
The edition consists of 30 prints on Arches Text Wove paper 120 gsm.
All impressions were hand printed by the artist with Caligo Safe Wash Furnace Carbon Black
relief printing ink, using an antique J. Smart copy press. All prints are
editioned, titled, signed and dated by the artist in pencil, and monogrammed
in the image: S-.
All prints are black and white, or hand coloured with Pitt artist India ink
brush pens as shown. Let me know if you want a purple giraffe ... !
