James Clark Curry was born in Kamloops. His father was of Irish descent born in Quebec, and worked as a farmer. Item 19 on the birth certificate noted that the mother had had 5 children of which 3 were living.

Curry married Mildred Edith Cumington in Kamloops on September 22 1920. His occupation was noted as Merchant.

He exhibited artwork in the B.C. Artists exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1946. The artist was living in Vancouver, employed as a Post Office clerk, living with his wife Mildred at 2534 Napier Street in Vancouver.

Clark died at Shaughnessy Hospital in 1980 at the age of 81, he was survived by his wife. They were living at 3805 Nanaimo Street at the time.
