Olive F. Clayton was born in Vancouver. Her parents were from England. She exhibited her work in the 1944 and 1945 British Columbia At Work exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery, as well as in the 1946 Fifteenth Annual B.C. Artists exhibition.

Clayton died a widow in Victoria in 1999 at the age of 86, occupation noted as "secretarial." She was living on Salt Spring Island at the time.
