Portrait of Maud Rees Sherman

This is a detail from a photographic portrait of early Vancouver artist Maud Rees Sherman, taken on Savary Island. Maud is riding Prince, a horse with an interesting history, as related by Jim Spilsbury (q.v.) in his autobiography Spilsbury's Coast. The photograph was presumably taken by Maud's father Ruiter Stinson Sherman, a member of the Savary Island Park Association that developed Savary Island in the early 1900s.

The photograph was provided courtesy of the Savary Island Heritage Society.
