Portrait of Tom Fyles, not dated
By Alec Dalgleish

This painting by Alec Dalgleish is courtesy of Judith Copithorne, the artist's niece. It is a portrait of Tom Fyles (1887 - 1979), who did a lot of mountain climbing with Dalgleish. Fyles was born in England, came to Canada in 1910, and worked as a postman. For more biographical information on Fyles see In The Western Mountains, pages 46-47, which is listed in References. Fyles made many first ascents in the Coast Range, and was a legendary climber in his time.
