INTRODUCTION

This image was printed by Alistair Bell (1913 - 1997) in 1967. According to information in the major Bell retrospective print exhibition catalogue from the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria: "Alistair Bell: PRINTS 1935 - 1981", this print was made in six impressions using five blocks on Torinoko paper. There were up to five proofs pulled.

This edition is illustrated in the catalogue on page 28, and in full page colour on page 35 - one of a few reproduced in colour from the 194 prints in the exhibition. Prints from this edition were widely exhibited nationally and internationally from 1967 onward, including the 1981 exhibition in Victoria.

This large, elaborate print comes matted in its original 31" high x 25" wide wood exhibition frame, and is offered for purchase for a limited time at $1,000.00 (one thousand) Canadian.
